In summer, save electricity
- Try to have good thermal insulation. This will avoid air leaks and favour the air conditioning of the home.
- Take advantage of natural daylight hours to do tasks such as studying or reading. In this way you will avoid turning on the flexo lights and your pockets will notice it.
- Do not abuse the thermostat. Did you know that for each degree that it's reduced, the electricity bill goes up by 6-7%? The Ministry of the Environment recommends keeping it always at a minimum of 24º if what you want is to favour energy saving.
- Turn off devices such as computers, televisions and devices with an internet connection whenever they are not used, as they lose energy in form of heat and increase the temperature of the rooms.
- Avoid squander energy by unplugging chargers from mobile phones and laptops, since they suppose a high electrical cost.
- Bet on illuminating outdoor spaces, such as terraces or gardens, with solar lamps that are charged during the day with sunlight and do not consume electricity.
- If you have to choose between fans or air conditioners, stay with the first option. The fans suppose a cost much lower than the air conditioners providing also a feeling of thermal descent.
- If you don't have any other alternative and you must turn on the air conditioning, check that the doors and windows are properly closed. If one were left open, you would be wasting the generated cold!
If you apply these simple changes of habits, surely this summer you will reduce your electricity bill!
