Girona historical city

Founded for the military needs of the Roman occupiers 82-72 BC, when it was called Gerunda. They left a large printing press in the city, as did Girona Cathedral and the Church of San Fèlix.

The appearance of the Romans 304-305 BC, where remains of their stay in the city are still preserved, after the fall of the Roman Empire. Nowadays, Girona is very well communicated, it has public transport, by bus and medium and long distance train, as well as the AVE high speed train and Girona airport. Girona also has Girocletes, bicycles for public use.

In terms of culture and traditions, Girona is known for its flower time festival, which began in 1955 as a flower exhibition, over the years the show evolved until it became an exhibition of floral creations, shortly after which the city council decided to turn it into a city-wide event. It also hosts the festival of Saint Narcissus, which is held during the week of 29 October, the day dedicated to Saint Narcissus, patron saint of the city of Girona.

Due to its urban and heritage characteristics, the city is widely used for advertising spots, photo shoots, television series and film shoots, such as the sixth season of Game of Thrones, Two of the Card (2014) by Robert Bellsolà "Tengo ganas de ti" (2012) by Fernando González Molina, El Monje (2010) by Dominik Moll, Soldados de Salamina (2002) by David Trueba, among many others.

Girona also offers a wide variety of museums such as:

Girona History Museum, Girona Archaeological Museum, Art Museum, Chapter Museum-Treasure of the Cathedral, Cinema Museum and the Museum of the History of the Jews.

Girona is a city that can be visited without the need of a car, walking through the streets and visiting the history of the city.
